Welcome parents. When my scout first starting attending his first meetings I was a bit lost. Was he supposed to finish every activity in the scouting handbook, achieve every belt loop and fabricate a pinewood derby car? So, I’m here to share with you some resources I have found helpful and give you a platform to ask questions.
Where do I get my scout’s uniform?
The staff at the Creighton Scout Service Center are so helpful in making sure you have the correct patches and size.

How do I make sure my scout is progressing through the rank?
Den meetings are designed to assist the scout in achieving the required adventures. However there are many elective adventures a scout can achieve outside of den meetings. These are a great way to interact with your scout and learn together. Here are simple checklists (Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos) that shows what is required and elective. The handbook will guide you through all these adventures.
What is the difference between a den meeting and a pack meeting?
Each den typically meets once per week, with 8-10 scouts from the same grade level, to work on learning Cub Scout skills, play games, and do activities. Once per month, all of the dens meet together at the Pack meeting, where scouts are recognized for their accomplishments.
What is all the hoopla about pinewood derby?
Every scout will be provided a pinewood derby car kit at the December pack meeting. With the help of a parent, they can design, cut, assemble, and paint their car into anything they want it to be. The Pinewood Derby race takes place during our March pack meeting, usually on a Saturday. Trophies are awarded to cars that are fastest or otherwise noteworthy..
How do I get more involved?
Cub Scouts is a family activity. The pack is run by parents who volunteer their time and talents to deliver a quality program for every youth, and can only be successful with the active cooperation of all of the pack’s families. If you can volunteer some time to help plan, organize, or execute pack activities, please contact UPpack148@gmail.com for a list of tasks or volunteer duties that need your support.
